The Badgers seem to be in a good position for a 2025 linebacker.
Wisconsin Badgers head football coach Luke Fickell and his staff have positioned themselves as the frontrunners for 2025 linebacker Elliott Schaper following his unofficial visit to Madison.
Nick Osen of 247Sports has placed a crystal ball prediction with a confidence level of “5” for the Badgers to land the Texas native.
During his visit, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker received an offer from the Badgers. Schaper now holds a total of 12 scholarship offers, including notable ones from Duke, Cal, Arizona State, and several others.
During his junior season at Westlake High School, Schaper racked up 108 tackles, 13.0 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and two interceptions en route to being named the All-Central Texas Defensive Player of the Year.
While Schaper has enough versatility to line up at either linebacker spot, he projects as an inside linebacker in Mike Tressel’s defensive scheme.
Right now, the Wisconsin football program is expected to take two inside backers for the 2025 recruiting class. The staff’s goal is to pair in-state product Cooper Catalano with someone capable of playing in space.
Schaper has official visits already scheduled with Duke and Cal in June, but the Badgers’ are expected to receive one too — and when that happens, he could be on commit watch, knowing there is only one spot to fill.
Coach Fickell and the Wisconsin Badgers have the nation’s No. 21 recruiting class, holding seven commits.
