After a competitive first quarter, the Magic blew the Bucks out of the water.
The Milwaukee Bucks lost handily to the Orlando Magic 88-113.
Game Recap
Dame was active to start things off, although that only translated into points from the line. Jonathan CPAC put the Magic on his shoulders, which went only slightly better than expected. Taken together, it was 30-22 Bucks after one. That line would remain for a while as the teams traded airballs and turnovers. Some baskets from Bobby quickly subsided as the Bucks didn’t make a basket for over half of the quarter (en route to 12 (!) points in the frame). Coupled with Paolo and Franz heating up, the Bucks were down 47-42 at the half.
The offense looked a little better in the third, but scoring was primarily through free throws (including a healthy number of fouled three-point attempts). The Magic continued to drive and added some threes for good measure, outscoring the Bucks in the quarter. My hope started to wander to the other games as the Magic held a 80-71 heading into the final frame. Orlando blew things out of the water to begin the fourth as they continued to ravage Milwaukee in transition, pretty much sealing the deal on this one. The two-ways got a heavy run of minutes in this one.
Fortunately, the Cavs lost to the Hornets, ensuring their finish below the Bucks. The Knicks game was ongoing and close by the time this one closed out.
Stat That Stood Out
There were a lot of good candidates here, but I’ll highlight the Bucks’ 16 assists (about 10 prior to garbage time), which epitomized their iso-heavy offense that ultimately sunk the game. Honorable mention to points in the paint and fast break points, though – the defense wasn’t sterling either.
