Milwaukee’s bats explode as they destroy Baltimore in game one
With Milwaukee off to a blistering hot start this season, they looked to take the opener against the team they made a blockbuster trade with this offseason, the Baltimore Orioles. The Brewers sent Corbin Burnes to Baltimore in what was one of the biggest moves of the offseason, and now ace Freddy Peralta started against Tyler Wells.
The Brewers got on the board first when Rhys Hoskins doubled to right in the top of the second and was brought home by a Gary Sanchez home run to left field. Andruw Monasterio then drew a walk, and Joey Ortiz followed that up with a triple against his former club, bringing home Monasterio.

Hoskins would be involved in more run-scoring for the Crew in the top of the third when he hit an RBI single to bring home Willy Adames, who had doubled and advanced to third. Colton Cowser would score the Orioles’ only run of the game off a solo home run to lead off the bottom half of the fourth.
Milwaukee would tack on more in the top of the fifth from a three-run home run from Adames that scored both Blake Perkins and William Contreras. Contreras then hit his own home run in the top of the sixth, also scoring Ortiz. Sal Frelick also hit an RBI single that scored Adames, shortly after a spat between Adames and Orioles catcher James McCann.

Ortiz added another RBI single in the top of the ninth that brought home Frelick, and the Brewers closed it out 11-1.
The Brewers mashed offensively in the series opener, as the 4-7 spots in the order combined for nine hits, including three hits from Adames. Ortiz also had three hits against his former club. The win was a bittersweet one as Christian Yelich exited the game early with lower back discomfort, an injury that has nagged him for the past several seasons.
On the mound, Peralta dominated, allowing just five hits and no walks while allowing one run with 11 strikeouts across six frames. J.B. Bukauskas and Thyago Vieira held the Orioles to one hit and one walk in the final three innings to secure the win.
