Milwaukee’s pitching throws a gem and the Brewers eke out a run to survive
Since getting off to a hot start, the Brewers lost three straight games, including the first two games in a three-game set against the Padres. Looking to avoid a sweep, Bryse Wilson took the mound for the Brewers while Michael King was on the mound for San Diego.
Both teams pitched masterfully in this one, as both teams were held scoreless until the eighth inning. Bryse Wilson went 3 2⁄3 innings and allowed only two hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Bryan Hudson then came on and didn’t allow a hit in his 2 1⁄3 innings, only allowing one walk.
Elvis Peguero then came on in the top of the seventh and didn’t allow a run but gave up two hits, stranding Jackson Merrill at third. Abner Uribe did virtually the same in the eighth, allowing a leadoff triple before inducing a popout, strikeout, and groundout to escape with it still tied 0-0.
After being no hit through 6 2⁄3 innings, Milwaukee finally got on the board in the bottom of the eighth when Blake Perkins singled to left to score Brice Turang, who stole second after a single.

Joel Payamps came on in the ninth to secure his second save of the season after sitting down the last three in order.
Willy Adames, Turang, and Perkins recorded Milwaukee’s only three hits, as Adames and Rhys Hoskins also reached via walk. William Contreras went 0-for-3 as hit hitting streak ends after 12 games.
Milwaukee’s five pitchers combined for nine shutout innings, allowing just five hits and two walks despite striking out only three.
After an off day on Thursday, Milwaukee heads to St. Louis as they try and bounce back against the Cardinals. They will face off on Friday with Freddy Peralta starting opposite Kyle Gibson. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m. on Bally Sports Wisconsin and 620 WTMJ.
