Mack, a 6’1, 198-pound cornerback, had transferred to Wisconsin last offseason, but was deemed ineligible to play, forcing him to sit out the entire year as his waiver was denied.
Initially, Mack was expected to play on the outside, where the Badgers needed depth, but the cornerback had seen time in the nickel this offseason, while also working with the safeties during spring ball.
Mack had been primarily utilized as a reserve in Wisconsin’s deep cornerback room, with Austin Brown and Max Lofy both seeing all of the nickel snaps with the top defense.
Mack leaves Wisconsin with two years of remaining eligibility, and will look to return to his 2022 form at Air Force when the cornerback recorded 42 tackles, an interception, and three pass breakups.
The Badgers have primarily utilized Jonas Duclona and R.J. Delancy on the outside alongside Nyzier Fourqurean this offseason, leaving limited opportunities for Mack in that role, prompting him to see more action at nickel in the spring before leaving.
Mack was not present at Wisconsin’s spring practice on Tuesday.
