Another point guard target for the Badgers is off the board.
The Wisconsin Badgers faced an unexpected decision last week when point guard Chucky Hepburn entered the transfer portal, leaving the team without their starter over the past three years.
As a result, Wisconsin looked to contact certain guards in the transfer portal, with Texas transfer Tyrese Hunter’s name gaining buzz as he’s a Racine, Wisconsin native who played with point guard Kamari McGee in high school.
Hunter ultimately went to Memphis on Monday, leaving the Badgers without a transfer portal addition multiple weeks into the cycle.
Another name that had been linked to Wisconsin was UNC transfer guard Seth Trimble, who’s a native of Menomonee Falls, and averaged 5.2 points per game in 17 minutes for the Tar Heels this past season.
However, the Tar Heels sixth man decided to withdraw from the transfer portal on Tuesday, returning to Chapel Hill for another year.
Another potential target for the #Badgers is no longer available.

While the Badgers do have 2024 four-star point guard Daniel Freitag joining the fold, as well as Max Klesmit, John Blackwell, and Kamari McGee as guards, they are losing significant experience with the departure of Hepburn, and don’t have a current replacement for him via the portal.
