The television voice of the Bucks is here!
With the NBA Playoffs under a week away, we’re bringing in the big guns for Questions & Antlers this week, starting with play-by-play announcer Lisa Byington! We’re very thankful for her taking some time out from a super busy time of year preparing for the postseason to answer our and your questions.
Lisa took over as the voice of the Bucks on TV beginning with the 2021–22 season, the first woman to become a full-time play-by-play announcer for a major men’s pro sports team. And that’s not the only first she’s had in hoops: earlier that year she became the first woman to call a nationally-televised men’s tournament game in NCAA history. She continues to call games for CBS/Turner each March, handling first and second-round matchups this year. Prior to coming to the Bucks, she called college football and basketball for FOX Sports and Big Ten Network, the first woman to do so for the latter. A former basketball and soccer player at Northwestern, Lisa has also called Women’s World Cup games in 2019 and both men’s and women’s soccer at the 2020 Olympics.
As usual, this post will remain up through Friday, and we’ll have Lisa’s antlers answers for you soon after. Head to the comments and fire away, but in the meantime, give her a follow on Twitter @LisaByington and read more about her on her website. Once again, major thanks to Lisa for her willingness to partake!
