For Rivers, who is coaching through his 26th trade deadline, little can probably surprise him. But after over a year with the Bucks, he said he’s in a great place with Horst as they approach the 2025 deadline. “It’s great. I’ve always done it pretty well, especially when you really trust the front office — and I really trust this front office,” Rivers said of the relationship with Horst. “They do their job, (they) call me.” Rivers only has one real mandate. “One thing with Jon, and same thing I had more with Lawrence (Frank in Los Angeles) and Danny (Ainge in Boston) is, don’t call me with the b.s. I don’t want to hear the rumors,” Rivers said. “Because half of it is b.s. I feel bad for players now, because there’s some trades that I’ve read about that I’m like ‘holy goodness.’ They’re absurd. But, it doesn’t matter. Once it’s out there, it has to affect the player somewhat. Some it do, some it doesn’t.” For his part, Rivers said he doesn’t address such things with a player – unless a player brings it to him, at which point they’ll talk.
