Zach Wilson Reacts To Meeting Aaron Rodgers On Wednesday

Zach Wilson and Aaron Rodgers got a chance to share the practice field in Green Bay as the Packers hosted the New York Jets for a joint session on Wednesday afternoon. Understandably, the rookie quarterback was excited to meet the 2020 MVP in person.

Wilson, who grew up idolizing Rodgers, and quarterback teammate James Morgan both had a chance to speak with Rodgers during drills on Wednesday. Both walked away impressed and a little shell-shocked that they got to workout alongside one of the NFL’s best.

“James [Morgan] is a big fan boy. He was getting a little nervous,” Wilson said with a smile after practice, per ESPN’s Rich Cimini. “I’m a big fan boy, too,” he continued. “We all have to kind of pretend like we’ve been there before. We’re enjoying just being out here and being able to talk to him.”

The Jets rookie quarterback revealed that Rodgers shared some tips on how to execute a two-minute drill before showing off his skills in a simulated drive a few minutes later.

“We’re all technically at the same level now — we’re all in the NFL — but we’re all still kind of like, ‘You know what? That’s Aaron Rodgers. That’s kind of crazy,’” Wilson said.

Rodgers also enjoyed the chance to talk with one of the league’s newcomers on Wednesday. He kept it short when speaking about their interaction.

“Zach’s a good kid,” Rodgers said after practice, per Cimini. “It’s fun to see him.”

Wilson has received a handful of comparisons to Rodgers over the last year or so, because of his impressive arm strength and his ability to make throws on the run and off-schedule. However, the Jets rookie will have a long way to go until he can compare himself to the three-time MVP.

The two quarterbacks, one experienced and one still bright-eyed, will be back on the practice field together on Thursday before the Jets and Packers play in a preseason game on Saturday at Lambeau Field.
