Barring a trade up the board, fans of the Green Bay Packers can expect a lengthy wait before general manager Brian Gutekunst comes on the clock in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft on Thursday night.
Last year, the Buffalo Bills made a pick at No. 25 overall. The Bills took Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid, and the official announcement came at 10:11 p.m. CT.
While dependent on how fast the first 24 picks come off the board, the Packers can expect to be on the clock around 10:00 p.m — or three hours after the start of the draft.
Teams get 10 minutes to make a pick once they’re put on the clock. Not all teams use the full 10 minutes before a selection is made.
It can be an agonizing wait for fans and decision-makers alike. If staying put at No. 25, Gutekunst will have to watch 24 players get picked before he’s on the clock. And many could be fan favorites.
The first round kicks off on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. CT. The Chicago Bears hold the first overall pick and are expected to select USC quarterback Caleb Williams.
