What The Packers CEO Said About Aaron Rodgers On Monday

It’s setting up to be a pivotal week in the Aaron Rodgers saga. To add to the mystery drama, Packers president Mark Murphy had a new message to share during Green Bay’s annual shareholders meeting on Monday.

The Packers’ front office leaders have sent mixed signals in the midst of the Rodgers controversy. But Murphy reaffirmed his and the team’s commitment to the 2020-21 NFL MVP while speaking at Monday’s event at Lambeau Field.

“We want him back, we’re committed to him for 2021 and beyond,” Murphy said, via ESPN’s Rob Demovsky. “He’s our leader and we’re looking forward to winning another Super bowl. … A challenging situation but let’s not forget all the great things he’s done.”

No mixed signals here. Murphy clearly wants Rodgers back for the 2021 season. The ball is in the veteran quarterback’s court.

Of all the twists and turns this offseason, the Packers are finally starting to make some sense. It appears they’re starting to make amends to try and do everything they can to keep Aaron Rodgers in the green and yellow. Will those efforts pay off? We’ll have to wait to see.

The Packers’ training camp begins this Wednesday. Rodgers’ attendance or absence will tell us everything we need to know about his future plans.

It’s no secret he may still be upset and frustrated with Green Bay’s organization. But is he willing to put his frustrations to the side to keep playing football later this fall? That may be the direction this is heading.
