Welcome to Ed Policy’s world.
Well, not quite, but close enough. The Packers’ president-to-be is all but set to take over the big job from Mark Murphy when the outgoing president calls it a career next month.
It’s been a long time coming for Policy. Anybody who thinks the Packers’ search for their next president was going to turn up anybody other than Policy for the gig hasn’t been paying attention. The son of a former NFL executive, Policy was going to be the man for the job from the moment he arrived in Green Bay. That seems obvious. The Packers didn’t need a search committee and a consulting firm to tell them that, though I’m sure Korn Ferry was grateful to collect what I can only assume was a generous fee for their services.
But however he got the job, he’s got it now. Well, almost. Sooner or later, though, we’re going to be living in a new era of Packers football. What happens after that is just a matter of Policy.
