2021 NBA Finals - Game Six

After years of Wisconsin teams failing on the brink of greatness, the Bucks pushed through and brought home a title.

For the first time in over a decade, a Wisconsin team has brought home a championship. And for the first time in half a century, the Milwaukee Bucks are on top of the basketball world.

On Tuesday night, with around 18,000 fans inside Fiserv Forum and another 65,000 packing the Deer District outside, the Bucks completed a dramatic turnaround, beating the Phoenix Suns 105-98 to clinch the NBA Finals four games to two. Milwaukee lost the first two games in Phoenix before rattling off four straight gutsy wins to earn the Larry O’Brien Trophy and finally, truly, pay off Brandon Jennings’ “Bucks in Six” promise.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s star burned brighter than ever in game six as well, as he delivered a performance for the ages: 50 points, 14 rebounds, and five blocks, plus going 17-for-19 at the free throw line. The 26-year-old was the only possible choice as NBA Finals MVP after also having back-to-back 40-point games earlier.

The Wisconsin sports world has rallied around the Bucks this summer, with many Green Bay Packers players showing up for games throughout the postseason. On Tuesday, Aaron Jones was in attendance, while Za’Darius Smith and David Bakhtiari have consistently appeared as well. Many Packers took to Twitter after the game to congratulate the Bucks on the win, including a certain quarterback who holds a small ownership stake in the team.

So this morning, it’s all about the Bucks and their title here at APC, at least for a bit. Enjoy the win, Bucks fans, and congratulations on bringing a championship back to Wisconsin!

This moment was perhaps the funniest of all of the postgame interviews as Pat Connaughton and Bobby Portis sat down to talk with the hosts on NBA TV:
