The controversial 2020 first-round pick, who could very well replace Aaron Rodgers in the near future, didn’t get a preseason to display his talents last year. The NFL canceled the exhibition games last summer due to COVID-19.
He spent the 2020 season as the team’s QB3, and didn’t even suit up on Sunday, as Rodgers won the MVP award and led the Packers to a second-straight NFC Championship Game appearance. He’s been placed in a very tough position, as the guy who was taken to replace a legend, as Rodgers was back in 2005. The reviews from his play in training camp have been good, and today he is off to an excellent start in his Packers debut.
Green Bay is taking on the Houston Texans. Midway through the second-quarter, Love is 12-for-17 for 122 yards and a touchdown. The early highlight: a beautiful dart over the middle of the field to Jace Sternberger.

Later that drive, he hit Malik Taylor for 10 yards, Devin Funchess for 15 yards, and capped things with a screen pass to rookie running back Kylin Hill, who took it 22 yards to the house.

After those pretty throws, Jordan Love was the No. 1 trending topic on Twitter in the United States. It has to be gratifying that it is for his play, and not what his presence means for Aaron Rodgers’ future for a change.

We’re going to see plenty of Jordan Love this preseason, as Aaron Rodgers isn’t expected to get much action. With more outings like this, the Packers are set for a very interesting offseason in 2022.
