Video: Sterling Sharpe’s Pro Football Hall of Fame speech

Sterling gave his gold jacket to his brother, Shannon, who is now the sole owner of multiple pairs.

Former Green Bay Packers wide receiver Sterling Sharpe waited too long to get into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. After retiring in 1994 due to injury, the three-time All-Pro and five-time Pro Bowl selection was finally honored in Canton, Ohio, this weekend.

During his playing days, Sharpe was one of the few modern-era pass-catchers to win an outright triple crown at the NFL level. Since the merger, only Jerry Rice, Sharpe, Cooper Kupp and Ja’Marr Chase have all led the league in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns without so much as tying in a single stat with a peer.

The 382nd Pro Football Hall of Famer obviously had many stories about his brother, Shannon, in his speech. The duo is now the first pair of brothers to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame together. At the end of his speech, Sterling gave Shannon his HOF jacket, back payment for Shannon giving Sterling the tight end’s first Super Bowl ring.

Sterling also brought up memories from his time in Green Bay, like how then-receivers coach Jon Gruden taught him to watch film of top receivers, so that Sharpe could imitate them, rather than simply watching games to find tells on defensive players.
