We all know that there are going to be a ton of surprise roster cuts over the next 24 hours and change. But the Green Bay Packers made a bit of a head scratcher with one this morning.
Per NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Packers have decided to release veteran punter Pat O’Donnell as part of their rosters cuts. O’Donnell is a nine-year veteran who was the Packers’ punter for all 17 games last season.
Prior to joining the Packers, O’Donnell was an eight-year starting punter for the Chicago Bears. He averaged over 45 yards per punt between 2014 and 2021 and 44.5 yards for the Packers last year.
Packers fans were understandably shocked by the move. By cutting O’Donnell, the Packers currently do not have a punter on their roster.

Fortunately, the impending final NFL roster cuts are going to leave plenty of punters on the open market that the Green Bay Packers can snag – some of whom might even be better (and cheaper) than the veteran Pat O’Donnell.
Who do you think the Packers should sign to replace O’Donnell?
Will O’Donnell land on his feet with another team?
