Pro Football Focus, PFF, released a list of the top 101 players from 2024 based off of their own criteria and grading system. This list was based off of the top individual performances in 2024, regardless of position. Based solely off of play in 2024, three Packers proved worthy of making the list.
No. 56, Xavier McKinney S
Coming in at number 56 was safety Xavier McKinney. According to PFF, Mckinney’s coverage grade was 90.2, putting him second behind Kerby Joseph.
Not only that, but McKinney was also a reliable member of the Packers, playing in all 17 regular season games in 2024. In his first season in Green Bay, he recorded 88 tackles, one sack and eight interceptions.
Xavier McKinney will continue into 2025 as the heart and soul of Green Bay’s defense. Having him available and at his healthiest will be a major key to success for the Packers this season.
No. 48, Zach Tom OT
It is not at all shocking that Zach Tom earned a place on this top 101 list. Tom has established himself as one of the more reliable pieces of the Packer’s offensive line and one of the better offensive tackles in the league.
A gem that Green Bay managed to find in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, Tom has held his own against some of the NFL’s best. In a recent interview, Houston Texans edge Will Anderson Jr. revealed that Tom is the best offensive lineman that he has faced.
Per PFF’s grades, Tom was 6th best among all offensive tackles in 2024. Additionally, he was 3rd in run-blocking grade, earning an 87.8.
Tom is still on his rookie contract and is scheduled to earn 3.4 million in base salary in 2024. Expect an extension to get done sooner rather than later.
No. 34, Josh Jacobs RB
Josh Jacobs proved his worth last season in his first season as a Packer. PFF graded Jacobs as a 92.4 overall last season, putting him as only the third running back to earn over a 91.0 overall grade since PFF began in 2006.
Jacobs played in all 17 games for the Packers, taking 301 carries for 1,329 yards. He averaged 4.4 yards per carry and managed to find the endzone 15 times in 2024.
Depending on how well the Packers wide receiver room can improve, I’d expect Jacobs to still be the main contributor on offense. In addition, the Packers will be adding Marshawn Lloyd to the mix. An excellent opportunity for the sophomore running back to learn from one Jacobs, one of the league’s best.
