We’ve seen NFL teams announce their captains over the last few days. The Green Bay Packers just rolled out their group of seven. Yes, Aaron Rodgers is involved.
The quarterback, who had a tumultuous offseason with the team to say the least, has the ‘C’ on his chest once again. For all of the issues he has with the front office, he still has the utmost respect of his teammates, so that was an obvious move.
On offense, he’s joined by wide receiver Davante Adams and tight end Marcedes Lewis. Adams has emerged as arguably the NFL’s best wide receiver, scoring 18 touchdowns last season as Rodgers surged to the MVP award. Lewis isn’t a huge contributor for the Packers on the field, taking a back seat to Robert Tonyan, who broke out at tight end last season, but he’s an extremely popular player in the locker room.
Cornerback Jaire Alexander headlines the group on the defensive side. The 2018 first-round pick really blossomed last season, earning second-team All-Pro ohonors in 2020. He’s joined by defensive lineman Kenny Clark, who has quietly become a force up front for the Packers, as well as safety Adrian Amos, who enters year three with Green Bay.
“G” on the helmet & “C” on their chest.

Veteran kicker Mason Crosby rounds out the group. He represents the special teams, and is entering his 15th NFL season, all of which have been with Green Bay.
The Packers captains are just under 31 years old, on average, driven up by the trio of 37-year olds in Rodgers, Crosby, and Lewis. The group also averages eight-plus seasons with the Packers, counting 2021, with Rodgers, Adams, Alexander, Clark, and Crosby all spending their entire careers to this point with just one franchise.
The Green Bay Packers open their 2021 season against the New Orleans Saints in Jacksonville on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET.
