All three of Green Bay’s picks in 2025 took a trip to the Packers’ facility this offseason
Inside the league, much has changed in the scouting community following the high bust rate of the 2021 draft class. A lot of the blame for the high selections not panning out was placed on a lack of player background information that year due to the COVID pandemic and the restrictions that were placed on scouts who wanted to visit schools to gather that information.
Teams have responded to that 2021 draft class differently, but one way the Green Bay Packers have clearly adapted since that draft has been their use of pre-draft visits.
Under former general manager Ted Thompson, it wasn’t uncommon for the team to simply use their allotted 30 pre-draft visits as essentially an extension of their undrafted free agent recruiting arm. Starting with the 2022 class, though, current Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has used it to gather more information on players the team is interested in selecting early in the draft.
Over the 2022 to 2024 classes, the team has brought in 23 players that would wind up on their roster, be it via the draft or another form of transaction, on pre-draft visits. That’s an extremely high rate of players who end up on the Packers, especially considering that Green Bay is often bringing in early-round selections that the team only has limited opportunities to pick. For example, of the Packers’ reported visits this year, 10 of them were off of the board by Green Bay’s second selection in the 2025 draft.
In the 2025 class, after receiver Savion Williams told reporters that he came to Green Bay on a visit — something that was previously unreported — all three of the team’s draft picks were visitors. It’s becoming increasingly more difficult to ignore the Packers’ visits, especially when top-100 selections like Matthew Golden, Devonte Wyatt, Christian Watson and Edgerrin Cooper all were brought in pre-draft.
So moving forward, I would consider looking at the team’s visits as your short list of potential Packers draft picks. For what it’s worth, only 26 of Green Bay’s 30 allotted visits have been reported so far, meaning there are likely four visits that we don’t know about. Among the players who have draftable grades, according to the consensus draft board, here are the players still available going into Day 3 of the draft:
- Isaiah Bond, WR, Texas
- Tory Horton, WR, Colorado State
- Elijah Roberts, DE, SMU
- Jason Marshall Jr., CB, Florida
