The Green Bay Packers Offense is Finding Its Footing

December 9, 2025 by Packers Talk

After a couple of poor performances by the Green Bay Packers offense, fans were calling for Matt LaFleur’s job. Fast forward a few weeks and Jordan Love and company are starting to fire on all cylinders. With only a few games left in the regular season and the playoffs in sight, the Packers offense couldn’t get clicking at a better time.

Rough Stretch

Green Bay only scored 13 points in a loss to the Carolina Panthers in Week 9. They also lost their best offensive weapon, Tucker Kraft, for the season due to an ACL tear.

They followed that up by scoring only 7 points against the Philadelphia Eagles, resulting in another loss.

LaFleur called both games conservatively, opting to lean on Josh Jacobs and the run game. The results were inefficient and LaFleur was left looking for answers.

Fast forward to Weeks 13 and 14 and LaFleur has unlocked the offense. Trusting the right arm of Love and getting key players back from injury has the offense humming again.

Jordan Love

Love is having the best season of his career in 2025. He has thrown for 3028 yards, 22 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions.

LaFleur started trusting Love in key situations and Love has delivered. On the Thanksgiving win in Detroit, Love tossed 4 touchdowns. Two of those were on fourth down.

He built upon that performance by throwing 3 touchdowns in another divisional win against Chicago.

It is clear Love has full command of the Packers offense. He has excelled at moving protections, changing plays, and rerouting his receivers. In the third quarter against Chicago, Love can be seen changing Christian Watson‘s route based on the look the defense was presenting. He delivered the ball on time and Watson did the rest, scoring from 41 yards out.

Christian Watson reached a top speed of 21.6 MPH on this play.

The biggest change from the previous weeks is that he is unleashing deep balls again. Getting back Watson, one of the NFL’s premier deep threats, has certainly helped.

Christian Watson

There was a lot of talk this offseason about the Packers not having a true “number 1” wide receiver. That may have been because Watson was still recovering from the torn ACL he suffered at the end of last season. Watson has looked like a true WR1 since returning.

Size and speed are things that cannot be taught, and Watson has both. He adds juice that the Packers offense was severely missing, especially after Kraft got injured.

Since returning in late October, Watson has 452 yards receiving and 5 touchdowns. At that pace across a full 17-game season he would finish with 1097 yards and 12 touchdowns. Those are number 1 wide receiver stats.

Watson’s connection with Love has made the Packers offense explosive again. His 18.1 yards per catch is good for second most in the NFL.

Offensive Line

Green Bay has finally settled on a preferred offensive line and it has helped spark the resurgence of the Packers offense.

After losing center Elgton Jenkins for the season, Sean Rhyan took over duties. Rookie Anthony Belton was given a chance at right guard and has secured the starting position for the foreseeable future.

They have given Love time to operate, allowing him to distribute the ball to his pass catchers. The Packers offensive line has only given up 18 sacks on the season, the fourth least in the NFL.

Rhyan and Belton are both upgrades on the interior at moving people in the run game. Aaron Banks has been playing more consistent after battling injuries early in the season.

Outlook

Getting back key playmakers has reinvigorated the Packers offense. Watson looks fully healthy and Jayden Reed returned from IR against Chicago.

Reed is a dynamic player with the ball in his hands, something lacking since Kraft went down.

If the run game can get back to 2024 form, the offense could explode. In 2024 the Packers offense averaged 4.7 yards per carry good for eighth in the NFL. In 2025 they rank 23rd with 4.1 yards per carry.

LaFleur and Love have the offense back on track and will look to build on back to back outstanding performances. They will face a tough challenge against one of the best defenses in the league in Denver on Sunday.
