The Green Bay Packers and New York Jets appear to be firmly in a holding pattern as far as an Aaron Rodgers trade goes. Nobody knows when the other will budge, but one analyst thinks he has an idea.
On Friday, ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio proposed that the trade will take place at some point during the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Specifically, he thinks the trade will go down the moment the Jets are on the clock with whichever pick they will trade the Packers for Rodgers.
The Jets currently have back-to-back second-round picks with No. 42 and No. 43. As it stands, they are reportedly not willing to trade their No. 13 overall pick in the first round – which the Packers reportedly need in a trade.
But fans don’t really seem to be buying what Florio is selling. Many are convinced that Florio is just making things up and he has no insight into either team’s plans whatsoever:
Packers will panic soon #Jets will give pick 42 for Rodgers and a 3rd https://t.co/555ujPvRxp

This certainly is a bunch of words grouped together. https://t.co/Gtii6L7qw4

It is time to move on! Rodgers is almost 40 and was mediocre last year
He was swept by the Lions, and all he had to do was win a home game in week 17. They only scored 16
Make the trade then watch the Jets implode in a very tough division

How are the 49ers going to get a 2nd rd pick? When the Texans or titans call for Trey Lance?

Mike Florio’s guess is as good as anyone’s right about now though. Both teams have been very tightlipped with the status of things outside of a few very subtle indicators of their plans.
It seems unlikely that Aaron Rodgers WON’T be a Jet at some point in the near future. The main question now is whether the deal will go down before, during or after the draft.
