The New York Jets are continuing to bring in some familiar faces for quarterback Aaron Rodgers and this week it appears they’re signing one of his former favorite receivers.
On Wednesday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that the New York Jets are signing veteran wide receiver Randall Cobb to a one-year deal. Cobb played his first eight and last two of his 12 NFL seasons with Rodgers and the Packers.
By 2014, Cobb had emerged as not only one of Rodgers’ favorite targets, but an elite playmaker to boot. He made the Pro Bowl that year after recording a career-high 1,287 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns.
Jets fans believe that Cobb will be a good addition to their receiving corps while most other fans are already joking about which other older Packers players they might have lined up next. Still others have taken it upon themselves to dub the Jets “the New York Packers.”

It’s hard to tell how much of an impact Cobb could even have for the Jets right now. He’ll be turning 33 in August and has been held under 40 receptions and 500 yards per year for three years in a row.
But everything the Jets are doing is in the interest of making Rodgers as comfortable as possible in his new surroundings.
Will the Jets’ signing of Cobb wind up being a good move for them?
