When Jonathan Owens scored his pick-six against the Lions on Thanksgiving Day, many people learned for the first time that day that he was Olympic champion Simone Biles’ husband. In the weeks since that big moment, Biles has opened up about how she and Owens came to know each other.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, Biles revealed that she first met Owens through the Raya dating app. She explained that while she was hesitant to use an app at first, she quickly matched with Owens, met him within two weeks and the two have been together ever since.
“I had just broken up [with someone] and my friend was like, ‘Get on Raya, get on Raya,’” Biles said. “My guard went straight up when she said dating site… The second week I met him in person and the rest is history. We were hooked.”
Biles and Owens got engaged in 2022 and tied the knot this past April.

Jonathan Owens is now heading to the playoffs with the Green Bay Packers while Biles is getting ready for her return trip to the Olympics in Paris this summer.
You can bet that they’ll be supporting each other for both of the marquee events.
