The Packers are an organization that is rich in history. One of the most notable things is consistency at the quarterback position. Since 1992, three quarterbacks have started for the green and gold- Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, and Jordan Love.
Both Favre and Rodgers faced the reality of their replacements being drafted. In 2005, the Packers selected Rodgers to replace Favre. Fifteen years later, the team would follow suit drafting Rodgers’ replacement in Jordan Love.
After a tumultuous tenure with the New York Jets, Rodgers signed a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. In New York, Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles. After the injury, he looked dead in the water playing for a franchise where quarterbacks go to die.
Since joining the Steelers, Rodgers continues to show glimpses of the Hall of Fame Quarterback he is. Making off platform throws and placing the ball where only his receivers can catch it. Rodgers gave the Packers some of the best years in the franchises history.
Jordan Love has all the talent in the world to stay the Packers quarterback for the foreseeable future. On Sunday Night, he can prove why the Packers felt confident enough to move forward with him and move on from Rodgers.
Looking Forward to Rodgers and Love on Sunday Night

On April 23, 2020, everyone was expecting the Packers to draft an offensive weapon for their elite quarterback in Aaron Rodgers. However, no one was more shocked than Rodgers himself when they instead drafted his replacement. Jordan Love, the quarterback from Utah State, eventually would be the Packers next quarterback.
Rodgers indulged in a glass of tequila as the rest of the football world was puzzled. The Packers had already been here fifteen years prior, and maybe it shouldn’t have come as such as a surprise. Rodgers lived as Favre’s replacement, and at the time, it was a relatively rocky relationship.
However, Rodgers was determined to not let his experience with Favre get the best of him. Instead, he became a mentor to Love and stood in his corner. To this day, Love and Rodgers exchange text messages and still remain in contact.
Earlier this week, both quarterbacks had interviews with the media. Time has since settled since Rodgers’ departure. Most notably, Rodgers had nothing but positive things to say from his time in Green Bay.
“Absence makes the heart grow founder.” Rodgers said. While some think Rodgers is the ultimate villain looking for revenge, I see this quote differently. I believe after his time with the Jets, he grew to appreciate his time in Green Bay that much more. This break up is several years behind him now, and as Rodgers said, we all hope to grow more.
Sunday night will be a tale of two quarterbacks and two generations. Rodgers, who will be 42 years old, brings years of experience to the table. Love, who will be 27 years old, hopes to ignite a new spark, one where his name will be in the history books right next to the quarterback who guided him.
