Report: Jets Won’t Include 1 Asset In Aaron Rodgers Trade

April 2, 2023 by The Spun

It’s never really been clear what the New York Jets are offering or being asked to give the Green Bay Packers in exchange for QB Aaron Rodgers. But one insider believes he knows the one asset that’s NOT on the table.

Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, NFL insider Ian Rapoport said that the Jets’ No. 13 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft is not something that the Jets were ever going to include in a trade.

“I don’t think the Jets were ever going to include that 13th pick in the Aaron Rodgers trade,” Rapoport said.

But that really might be more of a hindsight statement than anything else. Earlier this week Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said publicly that the team doesn’t need a first-round pick as part of the bargain.

The issue of who has the leverage in a trade involving Aaron Rodgers has created a heated battle online since before Rodgers even announced his desire to play for them.

Cases have been made for both sides having all, most or none of the leverage in any sort of deal involving the four-time NFL MVP.

Things like these are fluid though and it’s entirely possible that the Jets change their mind and do offer up the No. 13 overall pick to bring No. 12 into the fold.

What do you think the final trade package will look like?
