Packers Under Fire: Is it Super Bowl or Bust?

September 5, 2025 by Packers Talk

Super Bowl Champions.

This has long been the standard and expectation for the Green Bay Packers.

With the Packers seemingly all in, the narrative is starting to spread that with the acquisition of Micah Parsons, the Packers have opened a win now window for a championship.

Is 2025 a Super Bowl or bust season?

The Last Time The Packers Appeared In The Super Bowl

While we all collectively gush over the legacy and lore of titletown, it’s been a long time since the Lombardi trophy made it’s way back to Lambeau Field. It was 15 years ago that the Packers orchestrated the table run that put a ring on Aaron Rodgers finger.

Granted it’s not the 0 title drought of division rivals Detroit or Minnesota…..

That being said, year after year we hear about the standard and the expectation of the team at 1265 Lombardi. This team doesn’t hang division championships, and the Super Bowl is the annual goal of the Packers.

We need to stop living in the past and see some wins in the present.

Packers Go All In

First off, yes, I am aware that Micah is wearing #1 at this point haha.

In the last 2 seasons GM Brian Gutekunst has gone out and fetched Xavier McKinney, the top Safety in the league, Josh Jacobs, a top 3 Running Back, and of course this year Micah Parsons, the top pass rusher in the league.

Xavier McKinney’s signing last year was jaw dropping. Seeing Josh Jacobs and thinking we had the best duo in the league with him and Aaron Jones for 45 seconds, made my heart skip a beat.

Seeing them bring in Micah Parsons to take care of the biggest gap on the team in pass rush was just unbelievable. I am still trying to figure out if it really happened.

It is time to put to bed the narrative that the Packers do not make splash plays. Over the last couple seasons I have watched the Packers front office go after the best talent available. The biggest shift to me, is giving up 1st Round draft picks in the Parsons trade. I would 100% have been OK with them giving even more for a generational talent personally.

It’s just not typicaly of the organization. The Packers haven’t given up a 1st Round pick in over 30 years since signing Brett Favre. At this point, I feel like it’s safe to say that the Packers are all in.

It’s worth mentioning that the Packers nailed their 2025 1st Round pick, and can take a rest the next couple drafts anway……

Let’s Not Forget Our New Golden Child

If the free agency and trade pick ups weren’t enough, the Packers went ahead and gave us this glorious moment during the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay….

Matthew Golden has 100% looked the part of a 1st Round receiver during the Packers 2025 training camp. The rookie’s first catch ever was a first down, and that catch against Seattle in Preseason was downright dirty.

Golden is listed as a Week 1 starter. Not a surprise after he spent all off season getting reps with the 1’s (unheard of for most Packers rookies) and turning heads at training camp on a daily basis.

If he and Jordan Love can get their timing and chemistry down, this offense will have it’s WR1 in no time.

The Time is Now

The last caveat to the the Packers right now comes down to contracts.

The man above, Kenny Clark, would likely have ended up being a cap casualty in 2026 anyway even if he weren’t part of the Parsons deal.

The Packer’s time to pay the piper is coming up quick.

With the signing of Jacobs, McKinney, Parsons, and giving QB Jordan Love his requisite bag as the franchise guy, there’s only so much left to go around.

Super Bowl squad

The Packers have prided themselves on being the league’s youngest team, and for the 3rd year in row they’ll be entering the regular season as the youngest squad in the NFL.

While it’s great to have all of these dynamic rookies on the field, eventually they will need to get paid.

Here’s a list of names that will be free agents in 2026 alone:

Quarterbacks:
Malik Willis

Offensive Linemen:
Rasheed Walker (LT)
Zach Tom (RT)
Sean Rhyan (RG)
Trey Hill (C)

Wide Receivers:
Christian Watson
Romeo Doubs
Mecole Hardman

Tight Ends:
John Fitzpatrick

Defensive Players:
Quay Walker (LB)
Devonte Wyatt (DT)

That list will continue to grow and decisions will have to be made as the years go by with other folks as well like Edgerrin Cooper, Jayden Reed, and Tucker Kraft to name a few.

Also, should Micah Parsons be that guy for Green Bay, he will be looking for an extension in 3 years time.

Suffice it to say, the Packers have their eyes on the prize here and now.

Super Bowl or Bust

The Packers have the next couple of seasons to cement their dominance and usher in a new championship era in Green Bay. While Gutey has said he “doesn’t believe in windows,” I would beg that his actions speak much louder.

While the front office will always look to under promise and over deliver, they made an addition last month to their new facilities that I feel speaks volumes to their mindset.

An empty trophy case……

Check out the clip below from HC Matt LaFleurs interview with Ryan Clark on the the Pivot Podcast describing this new addition to their locker room.

Is it Super Bowl or Bust?
