Packers Tight End Suffered Gruesome Offseason Injury

One NFL tight end’s offseason and potentially regular season could be over before it really even begins – and it gruesome fashion.

Speaking to SI.com, Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft revealed that he suffered a torn pectoral muscle while working out recently. But the way he described it makes it all the more nasty. Kraft described the injury as the muscle “popped right off the bone.”

“Just a regular lift,” Kraft said. “It was my last rep of the day on bench. Nothing crazy, not heavy weight. We were speed-benching and it just popped right off the bone.”

There’s no timetable yet on his return, but injuries like those tend to take a few months to fully recover. With any luck, he’ll have a clean bill of health right before the season starts – though that’s hardly a guarantee.

“I’m just ready to take off in this league and establish myself as a football player, really. That’s where my frustration lies,” Kraft said.

As a rookie in 2023, Kraft was a solid contributor, making 31 receptions for 355 yards and two touchdowns while quarterback Jordan Love thrived in his first year as a starter.

The Packers rank among the top Super Bowl contenders in the NFC and a player like Kraft can be a big difference maker in key moments – if he can stay healthy.
