Packers Take Round One Defeating the Bears

December 8, 2025 by Packers Talk

On Sunday, the Packers and Bears played for first place in the NFC North. In a football game reminiscent of rich history between these longtime rivals. The cold weather and December playoff atmosphere enhanced the urgency of the game.

In an odd scheduling situation, the Packers and Bears will face each other again in two weeks in Chicago. Round one goes to the Packers, but as expected, it did not come easy.

Personally, I believed that whichever quarterback played better would win the game. The Bears and Packers matchup pretty well. The Bears have a gritty offensive line, while the Packers have a stout defensive front. In the end, it came down to which quarterback would make the least number of errors.

The Key Packers of the Game: Keisean Nixon and Christian Watson

Tensions are always high between the Packers and Bears, and rightfully so. However, with this also brings opportunity for players to get penalties. Keisean Nixon started this game incredibly rough.

After an unnecessary roughness penalty, Nixon was benched for two plays. He could not have met the moment better, clinching the game sealing interception.

Similar to the same play the Bears ran against the Eagles to win the game, Johnson called the same play. Nixon read it like a book, leaving his assigned cover to jump in front of the ball to make the play.

It is all about how you respond to adversity, and that is what makes a team great. Jordan Love had a careless interception on the Packers first drive. After that, Love has three touchdown passes. While Caleb Williams had some incredible throws, it becomes overshadowed by an interception.

Christian Watson tore his ACL in week 18 against the Bears last season. He has come back better than ever, scoring two touchdowns in this game. It had to have been bittersweet for Watson. Knowing how last season ended, to see him completely transform into the best wide receiver on the team has been special.

Overall, the Packers have to turn around to play a tough Broncos team. They have a stellar defense and can win close games. It will continue to be a great test for this Packers team.

As for the Bears, we will see them again here in two weeks. Currently, the Packers control the north, and it will be up to them to keep it that way.
