The Packers activated Jaire Alexander off the Covid List and activated JJ Molson and LB Ray Wilborn off the Practice Squad Covid List. Earlier last week the team activated Kingsley Keke, Dennis Kelly, Amari Rodgers, and Darnell Savage from the Covid List. The Packers placed Billy Turner on the Covid List where he remains for the time being. David Moore was placed on the Practice Squad Covid List, where he remains.
They elevated Abdullah Anderson and LB LaDarius Hamilton to the active roster for the game against the Lions. The Packers also activated Center Josh Myers from Injured reserve and added him along with Tackle David Bakhtiari to the 48-man active roster.
Jaire Alexander (Shoulder/Covid), DeVondre Campbell (Elbow), Aaron Jones (knee), and Kingsley Keke (Illness) were inactive, along with Safety Shawn David, Center Jake Hanson, and Defensive Lineman Jack Heflin, who were all healthy scratches.

The Packers’ running backs rushed the ball just 9 times in the first half for 36 yards, a 4.0-yard average. Dillon received 8 carries and gained 32 yards (long of 8) and Patrick Taylor carried the ball once for 6 yards. Dillon carried the ball 6 times in the second half for 31 yards and Taylor gained 47 yards on 10 carries in the second half with a long of 12. The Packers ran the ball reasonably well in the first half and better in the second half.
David Bakhtiari played “pretty well” according to Pro Football Focus. He did not allow a pressure and lost just one of his 20 pass protection repetitions. PFF assigned a quarterback hit to Nijman, Newman, and Myers, with Nijman also allowing a pressure. Dennis Kelly allowed a sack, as did Marcedes Lewis when he had to block Julian Okwara one-on-one. Lucas Patrick moved to right guard while Myers was playing center and then moved back to center when Myers exited the game. Both Myers and Bakhtiari were apparently on snap counts after coming back from injuries. After the game, Head Coach LaFleur cited fatigue for Bakhtiari’s exit from the game.
Aaron Rodgers completed 14 of 18 pass attempts for 138 yards and 2 touchdowns. His passer rating was 135.6. He was sacked 3 times. Rodgers seemed to have all day to throw a few times but could not find an open receiver. He had the benefit of having Davante Adams on the field for 22 snaps. Allen Lazard had a big day with 75 receiving yards on 5 receptions (6 targets), 2 of which were for touchdowns in just 21 snaps. Still, the Packers were down 17 to 13 at the half. Jordan Love played the second half. He completed 10 passes on 17 attempts for 131 yards, 1 touchdown (to Deguara for 62 yards) and 2 interceptions. One interception was tipped by a defender and then tipped up by Amari Rodgers into the hands of Detroit’s C.J. Moore. Another interception was thrown while under pressure and down 7 points with 36 seconds left in the game. Amari Rodgers also fumbled in the second half, giving Detroit 3 second-half turnovers. Love finished with a passer rating of 64. His receivers could have made his day much better had they made some nice plays on some passes that fell incomplete.

Detroit rushed 11 times and gained 21 yards (2.3 yard average) in the first half. DeAndre Swift had a long of 11, while Jamaal Williams and Craig Reynolds each had a long of 6. On the other 6 carries, Detroit lost 2 yards net. Goff completed 14 of 17 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. His passer rating was 118.4. WR Tom Kennedy also threw a 75-yard touchdown on a trick play.
Detroit’s running backs gained 79 yards on 16 carries in the second half, good for a 4.9 yard average. They included runs of 9, 12, 13 and 14 yards. Goff completed just 4 of 16 passes in the second half, but they went for 106 yards even though he completed just one pass that traveled more than 15 yards in the air.
Rashan Gary generated 4 pressures and had a 29.4% pass rush win rate in his shortened day. Preston Smith was the only other Packer to generate multiple pressures (2). Dean Lowry, Preston Smith, LaDarius Hamilton, and Kenny Clark each had one quarterback hit, with Lowry’s being the sole sack on the day. Lowry added 2 tackles for loss. Barnes had 7 tackles (5 solo) while Garvin added 6 tackles (5 solo).
Mason Crosby missed an extra point. At least to me, the snap, hold and leg swing all looked smooth. The kick was straight, but pushed right. Amari Rodgers had a 23-yard punt return, though it was on a 67-yard punt so the net was still 44 yards.
