It’s been more than a month since Aaron Rodgers publicly expressed his desire to play for the New York Jets in 2023.
So, what’s holding up the trade process?
According to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports, the Packers are still holding out for a first-round pick in exchange for their longtime franchise quarterback.
During a recent appearance on the Wilde and Tausch show, Robinson said the Packers still want a second-round pick in 2023 and a first-round pick in 2024 from the Jets.
“The Packers are holding out for what they want right now,” Robinson said. “And that’s a problem with the Jets and more specifically Jets ownership.”
Both sides want to get a deal done, but the details of the trade have clearly caused a standstill between the two teams. As the start of the 2023 season nears, the Packers may have to start adjusting their expectations.
While compensation details are still up in the air, it would be a shock to everyone around the NFL world if Rodgers isn’t wearing a Jets jersey by Week 1.
