Jordan Love is prepared to take some preseason reps before beginning his first year as the Green Bay Packers’ starting quarterback,
Per ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, Love will likely play during Friday’s exhibition opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. The 24-year-old said competiting in the preseason will help get his “mind back in that (game) mentality.”
Sounds like the plan is for Jordan Love to play at least a couple series on Friday night vs. the Bengals, and he’s all for getting some preseason action.

In his time backing up Aaron Rodgers, Love received most of his playing time in August.
The former first-round pick started all three preseason games last year. Love went 41-of-74 for 437 yards, three touchdowns, and four picks.
However, Love has yet to receive many opportunities in games that count. He started one game for Rodgers in 2021 and made four sporadic appearances off the bench last year.
Love may have caused Green Bay to think more seriously about life after Rodgers by completing six of nine passes for 113 yards and a touchdown when briefly replacing the MVP signal-caller in Week 12’s Sunday Night Football loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Packers traded him to the New York Jets this offseason, clearing the QB1 role for Love after three years as an understudy.
Rodgers didn’t play in New York’s first preseason game, and it’s likely he doesn’t take a snap until the regular season. That’s an increasingly common approach for starting quarterbacks, but Love’s diminished experience could motivate the Packers to give him more playing time.
The Packers go to Cincinnati to face the Bengals on Friday at 7 p.m. ET.
