The Green Bay Packers were thinking about trading for star running back Jonathan Taylor on Monday.
Per ESPN’s Stephen Holder, the Packers were in trade talks with the Indianapolis Colts regarding Taylor and had legit interest in trading for him before Tuesday’s roster deadline.
In the end, the Colts weren’t getting what they thought was fair value, so they held onto him.

Despite Taylor still on the Colts, he can still be traded.
The NFL trade deadline is set for Halloween (Oct. 31) and Holder is also reporting that Taylor would still welcome a trade.
The Packers will be able to revisit these talks if they choose to do so, even though they appear set at running back with Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon plus Emanuel Wilson right behind him.
In the meantime, the Colts will be without Taylor for the first four weeks of the season since he’s on the physically unable to perform list (PUP).
