Packers QB Aaron Rodgers 'truly torn on where he wants to play' in 2022

March 4, 2022 by Packers Wire

With all eyes on #Packers QB Aaron Rodgers and his future, here is the latest: Sources say Rodgers is truly torn on where he wants to play in 2022. While many in the NFL expect him to return — there’s lots of positivity in Green Bay — he is going back and forth on what he wants.

Despite an avalanche of recent optimism regarding Aaron Rodgers’ potential return to the Green Bay Packers, the four-time NFL MVP is still going “back and forth” about where he wants his future to be in football.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Rodgers is “truly torn on where he wants to play in 2022.”

Rapoport made it clear Rodgers is deciding “where” he wants to play and not “if” he wants to play, suggesting retirement is off the table and he will either return to Green Bay or request a trade to play elsewhere.

Rodgers and the Packers went through a turbulent and dramatic offseason last summer, but the veteran quarterback returned to start training camp, aired his grievances against the team and produced another MVP season. Meanwhile, the team made changes and mended the relationship with Rodgers, who consistently praised general manager Brian Gutekunst and others in the organization for listening to his suggestions.

But it appears Rodgers may still want a fresh start elsewhere.

The Packers have won 13 games in each of the last three regular seasons but ended up short of playing in the Super Bowl. The team hasn’t won the NFC since winning Super Bowl XLV in February of 2011.

A trade out of Green Bay could net the Packers several high draft picks and start a new era for the franchise, while Rodgers would get a chance to pave a new path with a team of his choosing.

A few important dates to note coming up: Tuesday, March 8, or the deadline to use the franchise tag, and March 16, the start of the new league year. The Packers need to make a decision on Davante Adams and several other important players over the next few days. Expect a final decision from Rodgers to come between now and the 16th.
