Packers open Sunday as 5.5-point underdog to Eagles in NFC Wild Card Round

January 12, 2025 by Packers Wire

The Green Bay Packers opened Sunday morning as a 5.5-point betting underdog to the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card Round.

The Packers (11-6, seventh seed in NFC) and Eagles (14-3, second seed in NFC) will kick off from Lincoln Financial Field at 3:30 p.m. CT.

The opening line was Eagles -3.5. It has since shifted two points towards the Eagles, possibly in response to Jalen Hurts clearing concussion protocol and the Packers’ sluggish end to the 2024 regular season.

The over/under is set at 45.5 points.

The Packers have lost their last three games as the betting underdog — on the road against the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions and at home to the Lions. Previously, the Packers won as betting underdogs against the Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans with Malik Willis starting for an injured Jordan Love.

The Eagles have been a favorite of at least 5.5 points seven times in 2024. They’ve won six straight but did lose at home to the Atlanta Falcons in Week 2 as a 5.5-point favorite. Also, Philadelphia lost on the road to the Washington Commanders as a 4.0-point favorite on Dec. 22.

The Eagles won 34-29 over the Packers in Week 1 as a 2.0-point favorite.

Last year, the Packers won in Dallas by 16 points as a 7.0-point underdog to the NFC East champion Cowboys in the wildcard round.

The winner on Sunday will go to the NFC Divisional Round. If the Packers can pull off the upset in Philadelphia, they will go back on the road to play the 15-2 Detroit Lions at Ford Field next weekend.
