NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero just announced that Love will start today’s preseason game for the Packers. The coaching staff held him out of last Saturday’s game because of a minor shoulder strain.
The MRI results for Love were encouraging, but Green Bay’s staff didn’t want to risk him potentially reaggravating his injury.
As for Love’s snap count this afternoon, Pelissero said the former first-round pick could play into the third quarter. It should be a nice audition for next season – assuming the Packers part ways with Aaron Rodgers in 2022.
#Packers QB Jordan Love will start today’s preseason game against the #Bills, I’m told. Officially back after missing last week’s game with a minor shoulder strain. Coach Matt LaFleur said this week Love could play into the third quarter.

Love played well in the Packers’ preseason opener, completing 12 of 17 passes for 122 yards and a touchdown.
Despite that solid performance from Love, he hasn’t done enough yet to prove that he can be a worthy successor to Rodgers. NFL insider Peter King explained why last week.
“Jordan Love, the pivot-point first-round pick of all the discontent, hasn’t wowed the team,” King wrote. “Good days, shaky days. But I’d be cautious about saying the 26th pick in the 2020 draft is in trouble… Love’s decision-making must improve. But some quarterbacks take more nurturing than others. One of the biggest problems in football today is impatience with young quarterbacks, and I got the sense the Packers think Love’s not ready for prime time yet.”
Love can prove his doubters wrong with a strong performance this afternoon against the Bills.
