Packers Injury Update: 3 starters out vs. Lions

Jaire Alexander, Josh Myers and Evan Williams will be sidelined on Sunday

One of the big questions this week was who will actually be able to suit up for the Green Bay Packers when they take on the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Though quarterback Jordan Love (groin) was a non-participant in practice on Wednesday, he was otherwise limited this week and was listed as questionable for today’s game against the Lions. Officially, Love will play as he wasn’t featured on the team’s inactives announcement 90 minutes before kickoff.

Three starters aren’t as lucky as Love, though. Safety Evan Williams was ruled out on Friday, meaning that rookie second-round pick Javon Bullard is highly likely to move from the slot to the full-time safety position, freeing up a spot for Keisean Nixon to move from outside cornerback to the slot. Cornerback Jaire Alexander, who was listed as questionable on Friday, will also be out, meaning it’ll likely be Carrington Valentine and the struggling Eric Stokes at outside cornerback this week. Neither have been consistent starters this year, as Alexander and Nixon are the team’s preferred starting outside cornerbacks.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Packers will also be out center Josh Myers, who has dealt with an off-and-on wrist injury over the last couple of weeks. Without Myers, it’s expected that Elgton Jenkins will slide from guard to center and first-round rookie Jordan Morgan becomes an every-down starter in this game.
