Five Texans defenders remain out on Thursday. Only one Packer didn’t practice due to injury today.
The Green Bay Packers got some positive news on the injury front on Thursday, as offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins (knee) and defensive tackle Colby Wooden (knee) returned to practice. They both missed action on Wednesday. This leaves just defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt (ankle) as the only non-participant, due to injury, for Green Bay on Thursday.
I say due to injury because the Packers’ new kicker, Brandon McManus, didn’t kick today. Head coach Matt LaFleur stated after practice that his kickers don’t participate on Thursdays and that McManus is scheduled to practice on Friday.
Along with Jenkins and Wooden, the following players were limited participants for the Packers today: receiver Jayden Reed (ankle), receiver Christian Watson (ankle), receiver Dontayvion Wicks (shoulder), tight end Tucker Kraft (groin), center Josh Myers (neck), defensive tackle Kenny Clark (toe) and cornerback Jaire Alexander (groin).
More importantly, the Houston Texans are banged up. Linebackers Azeez Al-Shaair and Henry To’oto’o, defensive tackle Folorunso Fatukasi and defensive backs Kamari Lassiter and Jimmie Ward, all significant contributors to the Texans’ defense, have missed Wednesday and Thursday practices for the team.
Mind you, the Texans just had defensive tackle Denico Autry return to the team after a six-week suspension and Autry’s injury replacement, Mario Edwards Jr., just went on suspension.
The Packers are relatively healthy, even if some of their star players are limited in practice. Keep an eye on Friday’s injury report and how the Texans officially declare the statuses of their defenders, as it will have a significant pull going into Sunday’s action at Lambeau Field.
