Packers host Utah OT Bam Olaseni for official pre-draft visit

April 19, 2022 by Packers Wire

The Green Bay Packers hosted Utah offensive tackle Bam Olaseni on an official pre-draft visit, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Olaseni, a London native, earned second-team All-Pac 12 honors after starting 10 games at left tackle and one at right tackle for the Utes in 2021. He played in 21 total games at Utah over three seasons after transferring from a Kansas community college. Thanks to taking a unique path to football, Olaseni will be a 26-year-old rookie.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic ranks Olaseni as the 29th best offensive tackle prospect in the class and a likely priority free agent following the draft. The Packers could be using the pre-draft visit as a way of recruiting Olaseni to Green Bay.

Last season, Olaseni allowed 12 pressures and zero sacks as a pass-blocker.

Olaseni is a giant prospect at 6-7 and 339 pounds with a total wingspan of almost 89 inches. While not invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, he ran the 40-yard dash in 5.43 seconds, hit 26″ in the vertical leap, covered 8-0 in the broad jump, finished the short shuttle in 5.02 seconds and the three-cone drill in 8.25 seconds at the Utah pro day. His Relative Athletic Score is 3.88 out of 10.0.

The Packers need to rebuild depth along the offensive line after losing Billy Turner and Lucas Patrick in free agency. It’s possible Olaseni could take a similar path to Green Bay as Yosh Nijman, an undrafted free agent from Virginia Tech who started games at offensive tackle in his third season with the Packers in 2021.
