Packers dominate Cardinals from start to finish

October 14, 2024 by Howard Brubaker

The Green Bay Packers played their best game of the year today and pretty much rolled to a 34-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals. It was raining to start the game but that didn’t slow down the Packers’ offense. The Packers raced to a 24-0 first half lead, scoring on their first four possessions. After a brief run by the Cardinals cut the lead to 24-13 the Packers’ defense forced three second-half turnovers and that ended any comeback hopes.

The Cardinals came into the game with only five turnovers on the year and only 19 penalties. Today they had three turnovers and 13 penalties. The refs were on the Packers’ side today. But it likely wouldn’t have mattered anyway the way Jordan Love and the offense played today. Love was on target from the start and with Christian Watson back in the lineup the Packers are simply a different offense.

Wide receiver Romeo Doubs returned to action after a one game suspension and had two great touchdown catches. Christian Watson and Jaydon Reed also caught TD passes from Love. It was Love’s second straight four touchdown game at Lambeau. He might need more than that next week against Houston.

The Packers really spread the wealth against the Cardinals. Seven players had a rushing attempt and nine caught passes. It was by far the best the offense has looked all year under Love, who seems fully recovered from his opening week ankle injury.

Defense continues to force turnovers

The Cardinals took the opening drive of the second half for a field goal and that would be as close as they would get at 24-13. The Packers promptly went 70 yards to take a 31-13 lead and the defense took it from there. They forced fumbles on the next three Arizona drives.

Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray was kept in check both running and passing. It didn’t help that he lost receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. to a concussion early. It was pretty much an all around bad day for the Cardinals.

I think this was the defenses’s best performance of the year. It comes after a halfway decent game against the Rams last week so hopefully the defense is coming together. They will need to be at their best with C.J. Stroud and Co. coming to town next week.

The Lions and Bears also had blowout victories today so there is no rest for the weary. The Packers must keep winning.
