Yes, Day 2 mock drafts are a thing
If you can believe it, some really sick people make mock drafts for what’s going to happen on Day 2 of the draft. Since you guys love mock drafts, I decided to compile some of these mocks from around the internet and will give you insights on the selections they have the Green Bay Packers taking.
If you don’t know who is still on the board, check out our best players available tracker for Day 2.
- #54: Benjamin Morrison, CB, Notre Dame
- #87: Jack Sawyer, EDGE, Ohio State
Morrison would be an interesting selection, as he likely would have been a first-round pick had he not ended the season with a hip injury that required surgery. As we’ve seen with Will Johnson’s drop, though, lower-body injury concerns with a cornerback can lead to a significant drop on draft day.
- #54: Jordan Burch, EDGE, Oregon
Burch would bring the Packers an interior rushing element from an edge defender, something the team doesn’t currently have on its roster. On top of that, Burch took a pre-draft visit with Green Bay — as did first-round pick Matthew Golden, among many Brian Gutekunst selections.
- #54: Darien Porter, CB, Iowa State
- #87: Jordan Burch, EDGE, Oregon
Porter is a really interesting player. The converted wide receiver started about half a season of college football, despite being a kick block and punt block specialist. At 6’3” with a 4.30-second 40-yard dash time, someone might believe that they can get more juice out of Porter than just being a high-level special-teams player.
- #54: Princely Umanmielen, EDGE, Ole Miss
Umanmielen transferred from Florida last offseason and earned first-team All-SEC honors in 2024. Despite running a 4.72-second 40-yard dash with just okay agility drills at 244 pounds, he can get after the quarterback.
- #54: Azareye’h Thomas, CB, Florida State
Thomas is not really a “Packers type” at cornerback. He ran a 4.58-second 40-yard dash this offseason. Generally, Green Bay only targets fast cornerbacks early on in the draft. I’m guessing that he’s not on the Packers’ short list of players, but they’ve broken their molds for need before.
- #54: Benjamin Morrison, CB, Notre Dame
- #87: Shemar Turner, DL, Texas A&M
If you wanted Shemar Stewart out of Texas A&M, here’s the good news: The Aggies have multiple Shemars in this class. Turner is undersized at just 290 pounds, which isn’t really the type of defensive tackle the Packers need. Beyond Kenny Clark, they don’t really have anyone on the roster who can play nose tackle, even from the reserve-futures contract pool of players they signed.
- #54: Azareye’h Thomas, CB, Florida State
- #87: Ashton Gillotte, EDGE, Louisville
While he doesn’t look that athletic on the field, Gillotte ran a 4.65-second 40-yard dash time and a 6.94-second three-cone during the pre-draft process. Players who hit those marks are usually players who hit Pro Bowl ceilings. Gillotte is a squatty player at just over 6’2” and 264 pounds.
- #54: Shavon Revel, CB, East Carolina
Outside of Will Johnson, Shavon Revel is the best cornerback available right now. The problem is that Revel tore his ACL in practice last season, ending his senior campaign. He’s also already 24 years old, as the NCAA afforded him an extra season for the 2020 season he spent at Louisburg College, whose season was canceled due to the COVID pandemic.
