NFL’s Top 100 Players mistakes Packers’ Rashan Gary as a defensive tackle

Rashan Gary is a defensive tackle. Who knew?

I don’t put too much value into these offseason lists that people use to bridge the dead period between minicamp and training camp, so I apologize for being late on this topic. I finally watched the NFL’s Top 100 Players video on Rashan Gary, the Green Bay Packers pass-rusher who was listed 80th on their list for 2025, and realized a giant goof from NFL Films: They got his position wrong.

The first sign of this was when they introduced his ranking, and you can see “defensive tackle” under his name. I thought that was weird, but maybe they just called all players listed at “DL,” like Gary is on the Packers.com roster, an interior defensive lineman. A mistake, but at least an understandable one.

Then the narrator doubled down on the position switch, highlighting Gary as one of the few players to make the list at multiple positions in the history of the Top 100 list, and they said outright that he played defensive tackle last year, despite showing highlights of him playing on the edge.

For reference, NFL Pro, the league’s public-facing film and analytics hub, lists the following players with more “defensive tackle alignment” snaps (which include linebackers mugging the line of scrimmage) than Gary (26 snaps) in 2024:

• Colby Wooden: 214 (DT)

• Edgerrin Cooper: 39 (LB)
• Eric Wilson: 33 (LB)

Meanwhile, Gary played the most “EDGE alignment” snaps among Packers players last year with 578 plays.
