We’ve got an update on Aaron Rodgers-to-the-Jets. Sort of.
The Packers and Jets, who had reportedly been silent recently, are “re-engaged” in conversations about a potential Rodgers trade, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
“A deal is not imminent, but the two sides are at least talking — with hopes a deal can (finally) be done this week,” Rapoport tweeted.

Hopefully, a deal is worked out in the days leading up to the NFL Draft. Judging by the reactions to Rapoport’s report, NFL fans are fed up with this storyline.
“This has been an annoying story,” said one Cowboys fan in what we feel is an understatement.

“I can’t wait for this to be over. Green Bay is trying to build some type of leverage and it just isn’t happening. They need to just accept a second-round pick this year with some conditional compensation for 2024,” added an Eagles blog account.

The first round of the NFL Draft is Thursday. It seems unlikely that the Jets would surrender the No. 13 overall pick in a Rodgers trade, but it’s possible they include either one of their two second-round choices.
With the second round scheduled for Friday, that appears to be the “deadline” of sorts to watch.
