Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and FOX sideline reporter Erin Andrews faced some criticism on social media for their postgame hug earlier this season.
Earlier this season, Rodgers and Andrews were seen hugging following their postgame interview. While Rodgers and Andrews are friends, many mocked them for hugging after they had to stand more than six feet apart during their postgame interview.
Rodgers addressed the hug “drama” earlier this week.
“Look, I’ve known [Andrews] for a long time, and I think the whole thing is obviously a little bit strange,” Rodgers told Pat McAfee. “You’ve gotta do some sort of eight-feet apart interview. And that’s my friend. The same way I’d hug a friend seeing him on the field, or hug a guy on the opposing team that you have respect for when you play against. Look, I do what I’m told in those situations about keeping distance, but I’m a hugger and I enjoy seeing my friends postgame.”

All on national TV.
And we wonder why the country is confused as hell.— Colin Dunlap (@colin_dunlap) December 26, 2021
Erin Andrews stands 10 feet away for the interview with Rodgers and then hugs him after it. What the hell is going on in this country?!?!?!?

Saw a lot online with people saying Erin Andrews was mad about Aaron Rodgers “forcing” a hug after last week’s game. Apparently she got over it. pic.twitter.com/4m4jzRydA1

The Packers, meanwhile, are set to conclude their 2021 regular season on Sunday. Green Bay has already locked up the No. 1 seed in the NFC.
Rodgers and Co. will finish the regular season at 1 p.m. E.T. at Detroit.
