Green Bay has one of the premier matchups of the opening Sunday of the season, while the other takes place in the AFC.
After questionable officiating got the NFL off to a banner start on Thursday night in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ victory over the Dallas Cowboys, it’s time to move on to the first NFL Sunday of the 2021 season! The opening week finds Green Bay Packers fans seeing our team in a prominent matchup against the New Orleans Saints, while a Divisional playoff rematch from the AFC takes top billing in that conference.
One of the teams earning the most acclaim and buzz heading into 2021 are the Cleveland Browns, who finished third in their division a year ago but defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card playoffs. The following week, they traveled to Kansas City and dropped a close 22-17 decision to the Chiefs, pulling to within five points in the fourth quarter but failing to rally for a win after Patrick Mahomes had to be pulled from the game with an injury.
Today, the Browns and Chiefs meet again in week one to reprise that matchup, with both squads looking to build on disappointing playoff results from a year ago. The Chiefs made it to the Super Bowl, of course, but were dismantled by the Buccaneers’ defense in a 31-6 defeat.
In the evening, fans will get a Sunday Night Football game that features some elite defensive play, particularly from Aaron Donald and the Los Angeles Rams, which could lead to an ugly game with the Chicago Bears starting quarterback Andy Dalton in week one.
Join us throughout the day around the Packers’ game against the Saints as we follow along with all of the action from around the NFL on Sunday of week one.
