The Aaron Rodgers trade has yet to occur but it might be coming soon.
Rodgers is expected to play for the New York Jets next season even though the two sides have yet to agree on trade compensation.
Per ProFootballTalk’s Mike Florio, the Packers were trying to get the No. 13 overall pick in next month’s draft, which was stalling the talks. However, they’re no longer demanding a first-rounder pack in return for the star quarterback.
“The holdup had been that the Packers were adamant on getting the 13th overall pick and I think they backed away from that. The key this week was when Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said that we’re not going to get a first-round pick. That to me was a major concession. I think they’re going to get a second from the Jets this year, a second from the Jets next year that could turn into a first depending on what the Jets do with Rodgers this year,” Florio said.

This report also lines up with the one Charles Robinson had on Monday regarding the trade. He first reported that the Packers would likely get two second-rounders back.
A deal between the #Packers and #Jets to swap Aaron Rodgers for two high draft picks is taking shape. But one lingering hangup is whether the Packers will agree to some draft “give back” protection if Rodgers doesn’t play in the 2024 season. Details: https://t.co/DmpXtuKwf2

There’s still no hard deadline for a deal to get done, but there’s a chance it could happen before April’s NFL Draft.
