Aaron Rodgers’ offseason behavior led many to speculate about his relationship with Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur.
However, while Rodgers’ relationship with the Packers’ front office might be subpar, he is apparently on very good terms with his head coach.
ESPN NFL insider Jeff Darlington shared some telling details before kickoff on Sunday.
“Matt LaFleur tells me they’ve ‘never been closer’ after a lot of ‘honest conversations’ this year. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but I believe that vibe could go a long way for Packers this season,” the ESPN NFL insider tweeted.
Aaron Rodgers might have an icy relationship with the front office — but the coaches? Matt LaFleur tells me they’ve “never been closer” after a lot of “honest conversations” this year. Maybe I’m overthinking it, but I believe that vibe could go a long way for Packers this season.

Rodgers opened up to FOX sideline reporter Erin Andrews before Sunday’s season opener.
“I don’t feel like I have anything left to prove on the field,” Rodgers said. “I think it’s more about the enjoyment and the happiness and the quality of life that this game has afforded me over the years. And being able to 100 percent commit to everything that my job entails and there were many times during the offseason where I felt like I wasn’t able to fully do that. And until I was, it was a possibility.”
Rodgers and the Packers will open the 2021 season at 4:25 p.m. E.T. against the Saints.
