Matt LaFleur Has Update On Jaire Alexander After ‘Freak’ Injury

January 14, 2024 by The Spun

The Green Bay Packers could find themselves missing one of their best defensive backs against the NFL’s top offense this Sunday after a freak injury.

On Thursday, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur announced that All-Pro safety Jaire Alexander suffered a “freak” ankle injury in practice this week. Unfortunately, it’s resulted in a significant downgrade in his status for Sunday’s Wild Card playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Packers released their final injury report of the week and listed Alexander as “questionable” for Sunday against the Cowboys. Wide receiver Christian Watson was also questionable while running back AJ Dillon is doubtful.

Alexander missed nine games due to injury this year and one game for a suspension this season. As a result, he could not match the production of last year’s Pro Bowl and All-Pro campaign.

He still finished the year with 27 tackles, a forced fumble and five passes defended.

It would be no small loss to be missing Jaire Alexander this weekend.

The Dallas Cowboys have the No. 1 scoring offense in the NFL, averaging 30 points per game this season. Their defense isn’t half bad either, ranking fifth in yards and points allowed, and holding 10 of their opponents to 20 points or fewer.

Will Jaire Alexander play on Sunday? Will the Packers be able to win if they don’t have him?
