Matt LaFleur has one main concern for his players ahead of the Packers‘ season opener, which will be played in Jacksonville.
Green Bay was originally scheduled to take on the New Orleans Saints at the Caesars Superdome in Week 1. Then Hurricane Ida hit the state of Louisiana, forcing the NFL to find a venue change. It eventually decided on Jacksonville.
LaFleur is well aware of the challenge that comes from playing in Jacksonville and its generally extreme humidity. The Packers head coach, as a result, wants his players to hydrate. In fact, he even has a barometer for how hydrated his players should be for Sunday’s game.
LaFleur told his reporters on Thursday that he wants his player’s pee – yes, their pee – to “look clear” every time. Gross.
“Every time they pee, you want it to look clear,” LaFleur said.

We’ll just leave it at that. Stay hydrated, Packers.
The early-season venue change should serve as a good test of adversity for both the Packers and Saints. Green Bay is well equipped to handle such circumstances thanks to their veteran leadership. The Saints, on the other hand, could use some help in that department considering Drew Brees – their longtime leader – retired earlier this year.
Both teams will meet in Jacksonville on Sunday while the Jaguars are away to play the Texans in Houston. The Packers and Saints get going at 4:25 p.m. ET.
