Longtime NFL tight end Marcedes Lewis has found a team for the 2023 season: The Chicago Bears. In signing with a new team, Lewis is primed to make history.
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Lewis is heading into his 18th NFL season. With the extra year under his belt, he will break the tie with fellow tight ends Jason Witten and Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez for the most seasons ever played by a tight end.
Lewis was a first-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars and played 12 seasons with the team, earning Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in 2010.

In 2018, Lewis signed with the Green Bay Packers and would play an additional five seasons with Aaron Rodgers as his starting quarterback.
Over 17 NFL seasons, Lewis has played in 251 games, starting 221, and has 432 receptions for 5,084 yards and 39 touchdowns.
Now he’s joining the Bears for what could very well be his final NFL season. It’s rare to see anyone at a skill position play for as long as Lewis has so he’ll likely treasure every moment of this upcoming season.
Will Lewis be an impact player in Chicago?
