Look: Packers Drafted A Quarterback Today

Earlier this week the Green Bay Packers freed up a spot in their QBs room with the Aaron Rodgers trade. Today, they drafted a man who could replace him if only on practice reps.

With the 149th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers drafted quarterback Sean Clifford from Penn State. Clifford was a four-year starter for the Nittany Lions, leading them to two New Years Six bowls and wins in both the Cotton Bowl and the Rose Bowl.

Clifford finished his career at Penn State as the school’s all-time leading passer. But he wasn’t exactly seen as an elite prospect.

However, he will now most likely serve as the backup quarterback to newly-minted starter Jordan Love and may compete with journeyman quarterback Danny Etling for the second-team reps in training camp.

This is interesting: The #Packers selected #PennSt QB Sean Clifford, who famously held off Will Levis, at No. 149.

Did not see this coming.

The Packers are heading into territory they haven’t experienced in 15 years. They head into the 2023 season with uncertainty at quarterback due to the lack of on-field experience that Jordan Love has.

However, after several years of sitting behind Rodgers and looking decent in spot duty, the Packers were confident enough in him to trade Rodgers and name Love the starter.

Will Sean Clifford see the field for the Packers at all in 2023, or will Love take every snap at quarterback for them?
